The choice is yours.

And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, “Jacob! Jacob!” “Here I am,” he replied. – Genesis 46:2 (NIV)

When news reached Jacob, that his favorite son Joseph was not only alive, but he was also the lord of Egypt, Jacob went to Beersheba to worship the LORD and at night, God spoke to Israel through a vision.

When Jacob was informed that Joseph was killed by the beasts, Joseph was just 17 years old. When Joseph took charge of Egypt, he was 30 years old. Then 7 years of prosperity came. Then 2 years of famine had gone and now, Jacob got the news that his favorite son was alive. 22 years. alone-with-god

Think about this. For 22 years, Jacob wept for Joseph, but not once God comforted him. Not once the LORD appeared in his dream. Then 22 years later, Jacob received a good news, he was happy and now the LORD appeared in his vision. Something was not adding up here, right?

Already Jacob had a promise from the LORD that his descendants would be blessed. He knew about Joseph’s dreams. Yet when he heard the news that Joseph was killed, he did not seek the LORD’s presence. Instead he kept weeping for 22 years and the LORD let him. However the LORD’s will did happen in the life of Joseph as well as in the life of Jacob as He intended. The only thing was Jacob spent weeping for a very long time though the LORD’s will was going forward as He had planned.

Dear friend, has the LORD given you a promise? Is it taking too long to be fulfilled? Is everything going against that promise? The Word of God does not change. It will be fulfilled as promised. But you have a choice.

You can keep weeping for all the time, thinking that you have lost something precious and spend your life in depression or you can trust in the Word of the LORD and be jubilant. The choice is yours. I really hope you choose to trust the Word of God and lead a jubilant life. God be with you. Amen.
