What is on your mind???

As Mary Magdalene, Mary, mother of James, and Salome approached the tomb where they saw Jesus Christ was buried, they had no hope about His resurrection. They had only one question in their minds: who shall roll away the stone? For the Bible tells us that the stone was very great, was sealed and was guarded.

Just three days before, they saw their Master and Lord dying a painful death, after suffering violently. They had seen the the body of Jesus, without any life, being taken down from the cross and being place in the grave. I cannot even imagine how much these women, who loved our Saviour so dearly, were traumatized by what happened before them.

Yet, three days later, when they were visiting the tomb, the sufferings and the death of our LORD was not in their mind… only the great stone that blocked the entrance to to the tomb.

How many times it has happened to us? I don’t know about you, but it has happened to me many times, I am ashamed to admit.

I seek the presence of the LORD Most High. Our Lord is an awesome God. Yet, instead of being filled with joy in His presence, my mind is wandering to few things that are in the way. Wondering who will help me out or how will this be solved.

I love the LORD. And I know that my love is still incomplete, for I should be loving Him with all my strength, might and mind. But I have no strength left as I have spent it on trying to come out of certain problems in my life. Even as I proclaim my love for Him, saying “Lord, I love You with no strings attached. I love You even if everything in my life fails”, my heart is wondering… “What if the LORD really lets everything to fail…?”

Even as I stand on the pulpit, to lead the congregation to worship our Helper, telling them how faithful He is and how He helps those who seek Him, asking them to have faith in Him to do miracles in their life, my mind is asking… will He do such a miracle for me to…

But one thing I know. The women had a great stone on their minds. Yet they kept going to the tomb, where the body of Jesus was buried. Instead of the stone blocking their way, they witnessed the miracle of the resurrection and the glory of the Risen Lord.

I have many things in my mind. I wish I can really worship our LORD without these thoughts, but I cannot. But I will keep going… not to the tomb where the dead Jesus was buried… but I will keep going to the Throne of Grace, where the Risen LORD is seated at the right hand of my Heavenly Father. And I will witness His glory.

Yes, I will keep going forward. Amen.

Who will…?

As Mary Magdalene, Mary, mother of James, and Salome approached the tomb that morning with no hope, the Scriptures record that the stone was very great, was sealed and was guarded. And in such a state, they were depending on human assistance, wondering who would help them in rolling away the stone.

They could have sought the help of the apostles or any of the disciples of Jesus Christ. Of course, I don’t know, if any of them would have been brave that morning to help the women. But, IMHO, I don’t think the women thought of seeking their help before leaving for the tomb. And to anoint the body of Jesus, they were wondering who would help them.

There are times in our life, when we have lost all our hopes, we are wondering who will help us out. There will be some obvious choices, closer to our home. But we don’t want to get them involved in this situation as we know how much they have suffered already. So, we are wondering who else will help us out and we can see no one.

But fear not, dear child of God. Though the women were wondering who would help them, the LORD sent an angel to roll away the stone.

It always amazes me when I read the account according to Matthew. He has recorded it as:

And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. – Matthew 28:2 (NKJV)

I may be wrong, but nowhere else I have seen an angel descending from heaven and sitting. How majestic that sight would have been! In our feeble minds are worried who would help us. But the Almighty God sends His angel to help us, to show us that the stone that made us worry so much is nothing before His power and might.

Dear friend, are you worried that there is no one to help you? Come to Jesus Christ, the Risen LORD. And He, Who did not seek the help of angels when He stood before Pilate, will send His angels to help you.

No hope, still…

When Mary Magdalene, Mary, mother of James, and Salome came to the tomb on that Sunday morning, they were worried about the stone. As it was written earlier, the stone was very large, it was sealed and was guarded. But they had a much greater problem than the large, sealed and guarded stone.

They had no hope.

Proverbs 18:14 says, “… but who can bear a broken spirit?” (NKJV)

When they went to the tomb, they were not hoping to see the Risen Lord, Jesus Christ in His glory. They went there with absolutely no hope. They went to anoint the body of Jesus. According to them, Jesus had died and that was the end of the story. They had no hope.

Dear child of God, probably you are also in such a situation, where you have no hope left at all. Nothing. Whatever hopes you had were dashed to pieces, grounded to dust and buried deep.

  • Does your future look bleak without any hopes?
  • Are you still looking for a job, at the age, when you thought you would be well settled in your life?
  • Is your body giving away slowly to the disease that you have been fighting for a while?
  • Have you lost all hope that you will ever be living a life that is pleasing to God?
  • Though you are religious, lately you are attending the church services out of habit rather than out of love for God?
  • Do you feel that the anointing you received is slowly burning down?

No matter what, dear friend, come to the Lord.

The women went to the tomb, without any hope. All they wanted to do was to anoint the body of a dead Jesus. But, then the power of resurrection came in its awesome might and they witnessed the Risen Lord, Jesus Christ.

Like them, you may have lost all your hopes. All you want is just go through one more day. But come to Him, come to the LORD our Saviour Jesus Christ and the power of His resurrection will be evident in your life.

The women came to anoint a dead body. But they ended up witnessing the greatest event in the history of mankind. Yes, come to Jesus even if you have no hope and you shall witness the great awesome power of our LORD in your life. And from a hopeless situation, the LORD will change your life so much that you will inspire hope unto thousands of others who have lost their hope. Amen.

U have Jesus
